The Improvement Commons
What can people committed to improving health, healthcare, and well-being accomplish together that no one can accomplish alone?
What can people committed to improving health, healthcare, and well-being accomplish together that no one can accomplish alone?
No ceiling. No walls. A carefully measured floor.
The Improvement Commons is a design process, not the launch of a finished organization. We're building just enough structure to begin and leaving the rest to the people who take part.
Help shape what comes next
The Commons is being designed with the people who will use it. This October we're holding the first conversations. They aren't conferences or presentations about a finished idea. They're a chance to help decide what the Commons becomes, starting with the question above.
Thursday, October 15, 9:00 pm ET
6:00 pm Los Angeles · Fri 9:00 am Singapore · Fri 12:00 noon Sydney · Fri 2:00 pm Auckland
Friday, October 16, 9:00 am ET
2:00 pm London · 3:00 pm Paris · 3:00 pm Johannesburg
Each gathering runs about 90 minutes. Both cover the same ground, so pick the time that works for you and register once. Zoom will email you a confirmation with your link to join. Already registered? Look for that email in your inbox.
A little reading
We're beginning to explore principles that might help people work in common. They're ideas to test together, not settled rules. Before you join a gathering, we invite you to read this short piece The Power of Working in Common. As you read, notice which principle feels most essential and what feels missing. There's nothing to submit or prepare.
What could it be?
A place to connect, so good ideas travel faster. A place to act together, so specific things get better. A place to explore, so new questions get asked. Probably some of each. We're asking you to help us discover where the weight should fall.
Picture a clinician, patient partner, community leader, or researcher who brings a question or an offer. They find others facing the same problem, form a small group to test ideas, and share what happened, including what didn't work.
A possible path (it will change as we learn)
October 2026 ·
Founding conversations, in person and online. We are here.
Late 2026 ·
Testing the Commons platform. Regular learning calls begin.
Early 2027 ·
Building regional connections and shared-interest groups.
Later 2027 ·
Looking at what's working and designing what comes next.
The virtual commons
We're testing a platform where the Commons can live between gatherings. It's a place to find each other, work in the open, and leave behind something the next person can use.
It's an early pilot. We're inviting people to join and try it, and what you tell us will shape what it becomes. Expect some rough edges.
What you will find there.
A place to:
Find people working on bold ideas
Ask a question, make an offer or name a need
Leave what you have learned somewhere findable
What it is not
A membership.
A replacement for what you already belong to.
Peer-reviewed. What is here is offered, not certified.
Decision-making body. Nothing here commits you or your organization to anything.
A marketplace, a job board, or promotion channel.
